Dinting CC are targeting a fourth consecutive Derbyshire and Cheshire Division One title, as the new campaign gets underway this weekend.
The club’s first XI won the league in 2013 thanks to a 40-point winning margin and secretary Graham Elliott says the aim is to continue their defence of the crown which they have held since 2011.
He said: “We’re looking forward to the new season. We’ve got the same squad as nobody has left and there has been no incomings.
“That probably means we will look at blooding some of the youngsters, but we’re happy to do that if needs be.
“We know other teams in the league have strengthened and I can see four or five teams challenging this year.
“We’ve won the title the last three years but we’re not getting complacent and we’re certainly hopeful of winning it again.”
Dinting begin their defence away at Dove Holes this Saturday, whilst the two newcomers to the top tier, Woodley and Whaley Bridge, both have home ties to begin the season.
In the Second Division, Buxton’s first XI will be looking to put a forgettable 2013 campaign behind them.
The club ended up with the wooden spoon last year after a miserable season saw them muster just four wins from 22 outings.
A club spokesperson said: “We’re hoping to improve on last season and we’ve had a couple of new players come in who will hopefully help us do that.”
This year also marks the maiden season for the new Buxton third XI, who will play in Division Six of the Yorkshire and Derbyshire League.
The club will play matches on the new ground which was recently leased off Green Lane.
Elsewhere on the opening weekend, in Division Three the newly-promoted duo of Broadbottom and Charlesworth’s 2nd XI’s meet each other, whilst last year’s winners Mottram host Hawk Green 2nds.
