DERBYSHIRE County Cricket Club is eyeing a place in the all-important top four of their Friends Life t20 group as they entertain Nottinghamshire Outlaws in the County Ground’s most eagerly anticipated fixture of the season tonight (Friday).

The Falcons start proceedings one place and one point outside the quarter-final qualification spots and, with three additional fixtures in their North Group also taking place, tonight could prove to be a pivotal evening.

Captain Luke Sutton said: “Two successive victories have been crucial in terms of clawing us back into contention in what is a very competitive group, although we were never panicking prior to that as we have played some excellent limited-overs cricket this season.

“I have been looking forward to the Nottinghamshire Friday night fixture since rejoining the club. They have always been great nights with a terrific atmosphere.

“Nottinghamshire are an excellent side and their position at the top of the table has been earned with remarkably consistent form during the competition so far.

“However, in Twenty20 cricket more so than any other form of the game, anything can happen and we will tackle the challenge in a confident and aggressive manner.”

The match begins at 7pm and the club is urging supporters to arrive early as a sizeable crowd is expected. Gates open at 4.15pm.

Entry on the day of the game is priced at £15 adults, £8 Juniors. Ticket Hotline: 01332 388 101.
