Leaders Hawk Green were saved from possible defeat when a weather-affected match came to a halt at New Mills. They restricted the hosts to 157-8, with Jordan Henderson taking 3-35, but they were struggling on 65-6 in reply when the overs ran out and the game was declared a draw.

In contrast, second-placed Broadbottom were denied probable victory at home to bottom-of-the-table Compstall, who were 44-5, in reply to the home side’s 206-4, when stumps were drawn. Three players, Chris Cheetham-Roberts (59), Ryan Welsh (51) and Dodd (51), struck half-centuries for Broadbottom.

The third team still chasing the title, with three matches to play, are Dinting, who also had to be content with a draw after bossing their game at Hadfield. They totalled 188-7, with Bleakley hitting 53, before reducing the home side to 111-8 as Greg Harwick took 6-26.

Elsewhere, in one of the few matches to reach a definite conclusion, Joe Hall took a hat-trick in figures of 5-23 to lead Old Glossop to a 109-run victory at home to Buxworth. They made only 144, but it proved more than enough as Hall and Dan Gilbride (5-11) blew Buxworth away for just 35.

Tintwistle almost recorded a similar win at home to Dove Holes. After being bowled out for 141, they had the visitors hanging on at 89-9 at the close.

Rain also played a major impact on the Second Division programme, but runaway leaders Woodley continued their march towards the title by dominating bottom team Offerton. After declaring on 200-8, of which Paul Turner struck 74, they restricted the hosts to 100-5 in reply.
