Historic day as Buxton Cricket Club woman's side host two matches

Though Buxton lost both games it was a competitive and enjoyable day with the club hoping it will further encourage development of the game amongst Buxton women and girls.

In the men’s game, Buzton first team hosted South Wingfield II.

Will Hebditch (49), Harry Griffin (63) and Matt Poole (44) were in dominant form enabling Buxton to close their 40 overs on 218 for 8.

At 119 for 2 South Wingfield were in control but an inspired spell of bowling by skipper Andrew Slater brought Buxton back into the game.

Junior Frankie Heathcote took three wickets but Buxton could not take the final wicket to force victory.

Buxton II continued their winning ways with another convincing victory over Duffield II.

Duffield were dismissed for 134 and Buxton cruised to victory by six wickets to stay top of the table.

On Sunday Buxton III visited Darley Dale and, batting first, scored 129, with Tom Lisser top scoring with 30 and Sam Longden on 29 not out.

Longdon backed up his batting with three wickets and junior Alfie Bunting bowled an economical opening spell but Darley were able to win by two wickets.
