Davis has been included in a 16-man squad to face Australia U19s for a four-day match taking place at the WACA from 6th to 9th April, followed by one-day fixtures on 13th to 15th April in Bunbury, and 18th, 21st and 24th April at Murdoch University.

The 19-year-old was named Academy Player of the Year at last seasons’ Awards Evening after captaining the Academy side in 2014 and impressing while in action for the Second XI.

He was awarded with a summer contract for the 2015 season and has been training with the first-team squad over the winter.

The fast bowler was on the England Development Programme at the back end of 2014 and did enough to earn his U19s call-up.

Davis is the latest in the line-up of Staffordshire-based talent to come through the Derbyshire Academy, following Ben Cotton and Tom Taylor who both made their first-team debuts in 2014.

England Development Programme Chairman of Selectors, David Graveney, said: “This is the first time that an England U19 squad has toured Australia in over ten years, and it represents a fantastic development opportunity for all of the players – particularly the chance to play a four-day match at the WACA.

“With all but one of the players selected eligible for the 2016 ICC U19 World Cup in Bangladesh next February, this tour, along with the subsequent reciprocal series on home soil in August, forms a hugely important part of England’s preparation for that tournament.

“The fact that 2015 is an Ashes year for the men and women will only heighten interest in this U19 series, and I am certain that all 16 of the England players selected for the tour will be keen to set the tone for the summer.”

Australia U19s are due to subsequently visit England in August this year for a reciprocal tour, once again consisting of a one-off four-day match and five one-day fixtures.
