County cricket club’s history goes digital

A DVD celebrating 140 years of Derbyshire County Cricket Club is to be officially unveiled.

Titled ‘Derbyshire County Cricket Club – Celebrating 140 Years’, the DVD is a celebration of the club’s history from its inception on November 4, 1870, up to the present day.

The launch, during the opening day of the England Lions versus Sri Lanka tour match at Derby tomorrow (Thursday), will be attended by Derbyshire’s leading ever appearance maker and new President Derek Morgan, who himself made a significant contribution to the DVD.

With footage of Derbyshire’s triumphs, interviews from the likes of Morgan, Bob Taylor, Devon Malcolm and Dominic Cork, insights in to the individuals who formed the club as well as fascinating historical accounts; the DVD is a nostalgic look in to Derbyshire’s past.

Derbyshire Chief Executive Keith Loring said: “There are plenty of fascinating pieces of history from the speech that signalled the formation of the club to The County Ground’s former life as a racecourse, domestic, international and FA Cup Final football venue.

“The production is a real insight in to a long and fascinating history and shows that Derbyshire County Cricket Club has a lot to celebrate.”

Derbyshire County Cricket Club – Celebrating 140 Years is priced at £11.99 and will initially be available to purchase from The County Ground and the club’s stall in the Westfield Shopping Centre.
