Buxton & High Peak Golf Club’s Charley Mycock played his part as his team Derby College held on to their lead to win the Midland/North West Region of the Inter Collegiate Golf Tour (ICT) last week.
The event, which took place on at Cavendish Golf Club, provided the participating teams with the chance to qualify for the ICT National Finals.
Mycock shot a 75 as the team won the Gross event.
Jordan Barker (Kedleston Park GC) led the way for the Derby A team with a 73, as the side carded 378 in total.
That was enough for them to win by one stroke from Myerscough.
Derby College finished top of both Gross and Net leagues which sees them qualify to play in the National ICT finals at the Warwickshire from April 30-May 1.
The team is part of the Performance Golf Academy Derby player training programme, based at Morley Hayes Golf Complex.
Programme manager Nigel Furniss said: “They have performed well to finish top of their leagues against some strong opposition from the other colleges. “We now look forward to the finals at the Warwickshire Golf Club.
“It would be a huge achievement for us if we could lift a national title.”
