Chapel sends two teams to regionals

TWO TEAMS represented Chapel-en-le Frith High School at the recent regional schools cross country final at Mount St Mary’s College in Sheffield.

Competing against schools from as far afield as Lincoln, Loughborough and Nottingham, Chapel’s boys team finished a magnificent fifth - missing out on a national final place by only 15 points.

Head of PE Liz Milne praised the boys for their superb performances in a large and high standard field of runners.

She added: “It was particularly impressive as the best runner was ill and could not run, plus five of the team are only year seven and are eligible to compete again next year in this age group.

“The boys have trained hard this term, ably led by EJ Eaton and Julie Ryan at the High School, and are determined to return next year and make the national finals.”

Unfortunately the girls team was incomplete due to illness and other commitments, but those who ran placed very well on a tough course.
