Buxton U11s were crowned champions of the Derbyshire Dales Kwik Cricket Lague on Friday after winning their final match of the season against Matlock.
It meant they finished the league season unbeaten on 84 points (won 16, with two cancelled due to rain), six points clear of second placed Ashbourne A.
In final the match itself the top scoring batting partnership was 26 between Conor Smyth and Dominic Cusco. George Walters, Joe Bagshaw and Alfie Bunting also hit boundaries to help Buxton to 157-3.
With the ball, wickets were taken by Joe Bagshaw and a run out by Finn Walker. Accurate bowling through the team held Matlock to 129-2.
Buxton’s younger ‘B’ side also had a good season finishing sixth in the league ahead of all other clubs’ B sides and in front of a couple of ‘A’ sides.
In their final league match against Ashbourne B, with the bat Alfie Bradshaw and Ryder Bunting put on the top scoring partnership of 22 in a total of 151-3. With ball both Anna Brower and Dan McCabe took two wickets each as they restricted the hosts to 109-5 for a comfortable victory.
