Buxton beat Codnor by 35 runs in Saturday’s County League match.
Batting first at the Park, Buxton scored 197 for 9 off 46 overs.
Tom Griffin made a welcome return to form with a classy innings of 71 and was well supported by Joel Frohwein (34) and Andrew Slater (33).
In reply Codnor were bowled out for 162 with Andrew Slater taking four wickets and Nick Smith three wickets for just 14 runs off seven overs.
The victory gives the team a chance of avoiding relegation, but this form must be maintained in another vital match this Saturday against Breadsall.
Buxton II also won an exciting game against Cromford Meadows first team.
Buxton scored 182 for 6 with Phil Slater top scoring with 49.
Cromford wickets fell regularly, with junior Fred Smith taking three wickets for 30 in another good spell.
In a tense finish Buxton took the final Cromford wicket to win the match by just two runs.
Buxton III played Wirksworth IV team at the lovely Middleton ground.
A dominant, attacking batting performance resulted in Buxton declaring their innings on 239 for the loss of five wickets.
Joe Smith (36) and Mark Wood (45) batted well but the man of the match was junior Kai Gilbride (61) who struck a maiden fifty in senior cricket.
Spinners Dan Capell with 4 for 26 and Luca Bartlett with 3 for 26 gave Buxton a real chance of victory, but Wirksworth were just able to hold out for a draw.
