New Mills women’s squash team concluded their season in style, as they recorded convincing wins in their final two matches.
Playing at home against Moss Side, the team had a topsy-turvy match with Jean Boston and Cath Denny both losing their matches 1-3.
Gill Brook, in only her second outing for the team, recorded a well-earned 3-1 win whilst Linda Done and Denise Wales swung the game the way of New Mills, as both women recorded 3-0 victories to seal a 15-7 win.
The team fared even better in their last match of the season, when they travelled to Northern Thirds.
Denise Wales dominated her opponent to take a strong 3-0 win whilst Cath Denny fought through with great determination to post an excellent 3-1 success.
Di Howe and Jean Boston had tougher times as they both had to fight back from the brink, showing the youngsters that mind over matter really does work as both won 3-2.
Linda Done concluded the season with a closely-fought match which could have gone either way, as she went down narrowly 3-2.
The 18-8 win ensured a fourth-placed finish for New Mills, who can look back on a successful campaign and look forward to next season.
