Prime Minister Boris Johnson has said the NHS are about to embark on the “biggest programme of mass vaccination in the history of the UK” from next week.

The vaccine will need to be stored in special super-cold freezers at a temperature of -70C. A total of 53 NHS Trusts in England are equipped with the super-cold freezers, and they will act as ‘hubs’ which will offer people in their local area the vaccine jabs, in order of priority.

Chief Executive of NHS England, Sir Simon Stevens, said the NHS will contact people who can get their jab when it is ready.

The vaccine will be delivered to hospitals throughout England. A number of the hospitals capable of storing the vaccine also currently have the highest numbers of Covid-19 patients.
