High Peak residents will be able to hear from the borough’s Parliamentary candidates at a number of hustings events being held over the next few weeks.
On Tuesday April 14 Buxton Churches Together are holding an event at St John’s Church, Buxton, at 7.30pm. Questions should be submitted to the Rev Steven Fisher by email at firstname.lastname@example.org before the meeting, identifying which church you usually attend.
The following day, April 15, Transition Buxton are holding an event on the topic Environment and Sustainability at the Green Man Gallery, Hardwick Square South (former Royal British Legion HQ), from 7pm to 9pm. Questions should be submitted in advance to email@example.com or on arrival.
On April 17, Churches Together are holding an event at New Mills Town Hall from 7.30pm. The meeting will be chaired by the Rev John Overton of St George’s Church and a representative of the Churches Together group. There is limited free parking in front of the Town Hall and in two car parks off Market Street. Questions need to be submitted by April 10 to Michael Brueck at firstname.lastname@example.org, or 28 St George’s Road, New Mills, SK22 4JT.
Topics including education, economy/jobs, community, perceptions of politics, immigration/Europe and the NHS will be on the agenda at a hustings event at the University of Derby Buxton campus, on Monday April 20. Doors open at 6pm with the hustings beginning at 7pm and running until 9.45pm with a 15-minute break at 8pm. The event is free to attend, but booking is essential at www.derby.ac.uk/election2015.
And on April 29, Sustainable Hayfield are holding an event at The Royal Hotel at 7.30pm. Candidates will be asked to give a brief opening statement about their plans to promote a sustainable, fair society, and respond to questions submitted in advance.
