The building will close to the public on Christmas Eve and re-open on February 1, in a similar arrangement to the same period earlier this year.

But following feedback from customers, the lakeside kiosk and car park public toilets will remain open from 10am to 4pm between December 26 and January 31.

Tourist information will be available via an electronic touchscreen and leaflet kiosk in the conservatory between 10am and 4pm from December 26 until January 31. Information will also be provided by telephone and email between 10am and 2pm from January 2 until January 31.

Councillor Tony Kemp, Executive Councillor for Regeneration and Tourism, said: “We wanted to announce the winter timetable at an early date so that people are aware and can plan accordingly.

“Like any responsible business, we have to ensure we are operating financially viable services so it makes sense to close the building during what is a traditionally quiet time of the year and I think people do understand that.

“We have listened to what people said to us when the Gardens was closed at the beginning of this year and will therefore be keeping the lakeside kiosk and the public toilets at the car park open throughout the period.
