Wheels of fortune turn in vicar's favour

A vicar who crashed his bike and was saved by mountain rescuers has won a voucher towards a new cycle in a raffle run by the same organisation three years on.

Steve Rathbone, of Holy Trinity Church, Rainow, said that buying the raffle ticket was “a great opportunity to support mountain rescue.” He won first prize in the Buxton Mountain Rescue Team’s Christmas raffle which raised £720.

Steve received a £200 voucher from The Bike Factory in Whaley Bridge.

Fred Salmon of The Bike Factory said that “Mountain Rescue do a lot to help mountain bikers and it was a pleasure to be able to help them continue their dedication.”

The raffle raised £720 towards maintaining the team’s vehicles and equipment.
