VILLAGERS in Hayfield are busy putting the finishing touches to the annual well dressings that will go on display this weekend.
Seven wells will be dressed in the village, and a theme of myths and legends will be the inspiration for the intricate designs
The blessing of the wells will take place on Sunday at 2pm at the Bank Street Well, with music provided by Thornsett Band.
Visitors can pick up a free leaflet in local shops, pubs and the Information Centre, and follow a trail to look at each well and find out more about them.
Among those who will be dressing the wells are children from Hayfield Primary School and Kinder Kids.
Groups of volunteers get together to create the rest, including a team from St John’s Methodist Church.
The village’s historic Methodist Chapel will also be hosting its annual flower festival with the theme this year: “Countries of the World”.
The church is open on Sunday from 2pm-4.30pm, and Saturday and weekdays from 10am- 4.30pm.
Donations welcome. Light refreshments will also be available. Coach parties are welcome however prior notification is preferred.
The well dressings will be on display until July 17.
