Photos show flooding and rivers on the rise in Derbyshire as warnings are issued

Two villages in Derbyshire are at risk of flooding and photos show the rivers rising dangerously high as bad weather continues to batter the county.

Today (January 20) the Environment Agency issued a warning that there could be flooding in Bakewell. A flood warning has been issued for the River Wye at Wye Bank and Milford, as well as at Ashford in the Water.

Elsewhere in Derbyshire, Darley Bridge has been closed to traffic because of the adverse weather.

The Met Office issues an amber weather warning for rain today, which means there is a danger of flooding and disruption cased by the downpour.

The office also warned: “Homes and businesses are likely to be flooded, causing damage to some buildings. Fast flowing or deep floodwater is likely, causing danger to life.”
