Water supplies returning to normal for rural communities near Buxton

A large number of burst pipes have been affecting supplies to hundreds of properties in Ashbourne and outlying areas of Buxton for the past couple of days.

The company has been providing free bottled water to affected customers at three locations: Shawcroft car park in Ashbourne, Sudbury Hall (coach car park) in Sudbury and Buxton Market Place. These will now close at 7pm today (Friday).

A spokesperson for Severn Trent said: “We’re happy to say that the situation has continued to improve in Ashbourne and the surrounding areas. We can’t thank you enough for your patience and understanding during this time.

“We’re really sorry as we know how difficult it is to be without water, and our teams will continue to work in the area this morning making sure everything is back to normal as soon as possible.

“Although things are returning to normal, as a precaution our bottled water stations will be open until 7pm today (Friday). They will then be closing down and won’t re-open tomorrow.”

They added: “As the water supply returns to normal some customers may see cloudy water caused by tiny air bubbles. Although unappealing we have no reason to believe there is any risk to your health, just let it stand and it will clear.”
