A car ended up on its roof after skidding on a road in icy conditions.

Emergency services were called to Lansdowne Road, Buxton, at about 10am today after receiving reports of an overturned car.

The 28-year-old woman driver of the Ford Focus was freed by firefighters and taken to Stepping Hill Hospital for a check-up.

A spokesman for Derbyshire police said: “The driver lost control of the car on black ice.

“We urge drivers to be cautious when travelling in adverse weather.”

The road was closed for about 45 minutes to allow fuel and debris to be removed.
