A recent and crime prevention initiative in Wardlow has been declared a success by the local community.
Operation Illuminate gave crime prevention advice on a range of topics, including steps to take to boost home and garden security and support on how to deal with doorstep callers safely.
Residents were also given the opportunity to purchase discounted security products such as shed alarms and door chimes.
Wardlow Parish Clerk, Vicky Finniear said: “PCSO Phipps gave a really interesting and informative briefing about his role, along with providing us with information about setting up a Community SpeedWatch on roads in our area.
“The event was enjoyed by all in attendance and we would like to express our thanks to him for assisting us all in keeping that bit safer.”
PCSO Ian Phipps from the Tideswell, Litton, Baslow and Beeley Safer Neighbourhood Team said: “Community visits are a fantastic opportunity to meet with residents and offer advice to help them to protect their valuables from thieves this summer.
“I really enjoyed getting the chance to chat with residents and I hope to visit again in the near future.”
During the meeting, PCSO Phipps gave residents further insight into his role as a police community support officer and the work that the Safer Neighbourhood team do to help keep the area safe.
