MEMBERS of the Edale Mountain Rescue Team were called to help their colleagues in Glossop with the rescue of eight people from the moors of Bleaklow at the weekend.
The group, who were all from Liverpool, had set off from Glossop on Sunday morning, intending to walk up to the Snake Summit and then return to Glossop. But they lost their way in deteriorating weather and found themselves in the steep sided Alport river valley.
One of the group, a 68-year-old diabetic, was also unable to walk any further after suffering a number of falls during the evening.
The walkers were located and given food, drink and dry warm clothing before being taken from the moors and back to their own vehicles by the Glossop Mountain Rescue Team.
None of the group needed hospital treatment.
