Walker rescued in Peak

A WALKER was rescued after collapsing in the Peak District yesterday (Sunday).

Sixteen members of Kinder Mountain Rescue Team (MRT), along with an air ambulance, were called to the Brown Knoll area to assist the young walker, who had collapsed due to the cold and was unconscious.

With the air ambulance unable to land due to poor visibility, rescuers stretchered the walker, who had been participating in a Duke of Edinburgh Award expedition, to an awaiting Land Rover.

Kinder MRT Team Leader Neale Pinkerton said afterwards: “Only last week we were dealing with a casualty suffering from severe sunburn and heat exhaustion, yet a week later it was hypothermia.”
