An ambulance service First Responder was on scene, followed by the team, the team vehicle couldn’t reach the site but was able to get close enough with the necessary rescue equipment.

The casualty had suffered a suspected fractured ankle and was treated on site, which included pain relief and splinting.

An evacuation by a mountain rescue stretcher was difficult in parts, as the path runs across very steep grassland which falls away into Water-cum- jolly-Dale and ropes were required to support and stabilise the stretcher.

The casualty was soon back on the Monsal Trail and placed into a land ambulance and transferred to hospital for further treatment.
