Buxton Opera House & Pavilion Arts Centre needs your help to win one of the most coveted industry accolades in the theatre business.
Public voting has now opened for the UK’s Most Welcoming Theatre Award, with the Buxton arts venue hoping to go one better than last year when it claimed the East Midlands title but missed out on the national prize to the Theatre Royal in Newcastle-Upon-Tyne.
The winners of this year’s award will once again be given to the theatre with the highest number of public votes. It’s easy to cast your vote for Buxton Opera House & Pavilion Arts Centre, just go to uktheatre.org/vote - you have until Monday September 19.
The UK Theatre Awards are the only nationwide awards to honour outstanding achievement in theatre throughout the United Kingdom.
Julian Bird, Chief Executive of UK Theatre, said: “Theatres throughout the UK play a crucial role in the heart of our communities and continue to thrive despite the challenging financial climate.
“This award gives audiences a platform to show how much their venue means to them and celebrate the hard work of everyone who helps make a theatre run.”
This year there are 241 venues across the country competing to take home the title with the 12 regional awards announced on September 29.
The overall winner of the award will be announced at the UK Theatre Awards, taking place at London’s historic Guildhall on Sunday October 9.
The competition is open to all venues that offer legal and fair terms to performers and stage management, in line with or better than the Equity Fringe Agreement.
