During the programme, the family speak about their ordeal and parts of the offence, in which thousands of pounds worth of precious metal and jewellery were stolen, were reconstructed.

Five men burst into the house and held a man and three children captive before searching the house and stealing the family’s jewellery. They then forced the man to drive to his place of work on the Staden Lane Industrial Estate in Buxton. The three children, two aged 12 and the other aged eight, were tied up with cable ties and stayed in the house with three of the offenders.

Further property was then stolen and the suspects returned to the house where the man was reunited with the children.

The suspects, who were wearing balaclavas and dark clothing, drove off in the family’s Mercedes and Toyota Rav 4, both of which were later found abandoned.

Three men were arrested in December in connection with the robbery and have been released on police bail.

A reward of up to £25,000 has been offered through Crimestoppers for information that leads to the arrest and charge of the offenders. To be eligible for the reward, call Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111, or alternatively, call police on 101.
