Organisers have hailed the return of Buxton’s artisan market to Spring Gardens.
Over 60 traders lined the town’s main shopping street on Saturday, featuring a range of artisan crafters and food producers.
The event, which has been operating in the town since a trial event in 2014, recently relocated to Spring Gardens after the market operators, The Market Co, claimed it was no longer viable being held on the market place.
High Peak Borough Council has granted a temporary licence for the market to be held in Spring Gardens, which expires after the next event on Saturday July 4.
Denise Valente, from The Market Co, was delighted with the success of Saturday’s event, commenting: “It was very well supported by the majority of businesses, residents and visitors to Buxton, and the feedback from those attending is that they are very pleased to see us back in the centre of town.”
The market ran the length of Spring Gardens, with a street food arena and entertainment near Turner’s Memorial.
The council is looking to outsource the running of the borough’s weekly markets and the procurement process is expected to be concluded soon.
