STAFF at a Buxton veterinary surgery held an open evening this week as part of National Veterinary Nurse Month.

Veterinary Nurses from Overdale Vets on New Market Street gave up their own time for the event, which took place on Tuesday.

Money raised on the night will be donated to the Retired Greyhound Trust, which is the charity of the year for the British Veterinary Nursing Association.

Organised by the British Veterinary Nursing Association, National Veterinary Awareness Month runs throughout July and helps create awareness of the importance of the veterinary nursing profession and the provision of responsible pet care.

The event used to last for a week but has now been extended to a month.
