Two cut free following A57 crash

TWO people had to be cut free from the wreckage of their car following a head-on crash on the A57 Snake Pass.

The collision, which involved a Honda vehicle and a Ford Ka, happened at around 1pm on Saturday afternoon.

The driver and passenger in the Ka were both trapped and had to be released by firefighters.

The driver was taken to hospital by air ambulance, the passenger was also taken to Tameside Hospital.

The road was re-opened at 3.30pm.
