Travel disruption warning as Glossop roadworks begin

Motorists are being warned of travel disruption as a result of roadworks along a busy route into Glossop.

The A624 Victoria Street is shut to traffic between Howard Town Mill and Collier Street until January 20 during work by United Utilities on the sewer system.

Cllr Damien Greenhalgh, who represents Glossop on Derbyshire County Council, warned: “This road closure is causing traffic congestion during rush hour and significant disruption to bus services.

“The 69 bus service is being diverted down the High Street and then via Primrose Lane, and those wanting to use the 61 service are having to take a shuttle bus between Henry Street and Whitfield, where the service is running from for the duration of the works.”
