A double-decker coach transporting Buxton youngsters on a school trip struck a low bridge on Wednesday afternoon.
Two pupils from Burbage Primary School were taken to hospital as a precautionary measure following the accident which happened around 4pm on Wellington Road in Coalbrookdale.
Headteacher Julie Ward said: “A school bus transporting 57 of our children from Ironbridge to Cloverley Hall, during a residential visit, was in collision with a bridge at about 4pm yesterday (June 15).
“The children were accompanied by three staff members and four helpers who immediately checked all the pupils and fortunately none were seriously injured.
“Two children were taken to hospital for precautionary checks, but were subsequently discharged.”
Following the collision, staff at the school contacted all parents and carers to inform them of the accident.
“We’re working with the children and families and the local authority to support them after the shock,” said Mrs Ward.
“Alternative coaches were provided to make the return journey to Cloverley Hall and most children have decided to continue with the residential visit.”
The group are due to return to Buxton on Friday.
