Martin Cassini will lead the transport conference on Wednesday March 9, organised by Buxton Town Team.

Topics ranging from parking and traffic management to tourism and disability access will be covered by a wide range of speakers at the University of Derby’s Buxton Campus, in a follow-up to the very successful 2020 Vision Conference last year.

Martin is a campaigner for traffic system reform.

He said: “Traffic lights symbolise the dysfunctional system of priority.

“Every year, 25,000 human beings, many of them children, are killed or hurt on the altar of the misguided system. Policymakers, including the transport minister, blame drivers for ‘accidents’.

“But most accidents are not accidents. They are events contrived by the current rules and design of the road.”

The conference will feature short presentations in the morning by experts and workshops where delegates will split into groups to develop ideas and suggestions for solutions to possible problem areas to stimulate positive public debate.

In the evening, Martin will also deliver one of the university’s series of public lectures.

More conference details will be announced soon. For more information, visit www.buxtontownteam.org
