Town Team litter pick a monthly event

Buxton Town Team’s first litter-pick bagged stacks of rubbish – and has spurred them on to carry one out on the first Sunday of every month.

After a couple of false starts due to the snow, a team of 15 led by member Karen Beresford spent two hours in February collecting litter along the footpath behind the railway station and on the old railway line that is now redundant after owners DB Schenker kindly gave permission to go on their site and even loaned a member of staff to help out.

And in March, a similar number of volunteers cleared litter on the steps leading from Ashwood Park up to Fairfield.

“There was a tremendous amount of litter here and it will benefit from another visit from us sometime in the future,” said Karen. “We meet on the first Sunday of the month from 11am-1pm and would welcome new members.”
