Top sporting achievements have seen Hope Valley college being rated as the highest performing High Peak school in a Derbyshire Schools Sport Association (DSSA) report.

The college’s sporting achievements have also seen them ranked eighth best in the county in the report, which examined schools’ performance across all of its events and competitions in 2013 and 2014 to produce the rankings.

Principal Bernie Hunter said: “Over the past five years we have been working exceptionally hard to enhance our provision of sport via PE lessons and an extensive extra-curricular programme of activity.

“This ranking is a culmination of our successes and we are delighted with the achievement.”

Stand-out performances in DSSA-organised events include first-place finishes in the Sportshall Athletics and Go-Ride cycling tournament, and a podium finish in the county golf match play.
