Hayfield residents are once again being urged to turn out and vote for the village’s royal family.
The closing date for applying to become part of this year’s May Queen royalty has now passed and preparations are underway for the annual voting day.
There was only one entrant for the positions of May Queen, Junior Queen and Princess but villagers are being asked to vote for the Rosebud role.
Claudia Kenworthy, a pupil at Chapel-en-le-Frith High School, will be crowned May Queen, alongside Junior Queen Nuala Roscoe, who was Rosebud in 2011. Amelia Aldridge, a year four pupil at Hayfield Primary School, is this year’s Princess while Annabel Bagshaw, Zara Kelly and Lilia Wild are all vying for the position of Rosebud.
The voting day is on January 31 at Hayfield Conservative Club from 10am to 4pm. Anyone of school age or over and resident of Hayfield is eligible to vote and the committee are encouraging locals to support the entrants and vote.
After the voting day there will be a children’s disco from 7pm to 9pm at the Conservative Club where the results will be announced.
Anyone who can’t make the official voting day but would like to have their say should call Zoe on 0773 5094166.
