A 15-year-old from Flagg is to spend her summer working with orphans in Vietnam.

Ally Le Carpentier has been busy raising funds and this weekend will be holding a three-day Jubilee Yard Sale.

She first worked with Global Volunteer Network when she took part in their Vietnam Youth Program last year and is returning to work with the charity this summer.

Ally said: “I really miss the children and since leaving last year I have never lost focus on my goal of returning. I keep their photos on my wall with all my other memories. Every morning I wake up and their faces remind me how much I want to go back.”

Although she is in the middle of her exams and preparing for college in September, Ally has still managed to find time for fundraising.

She has run market stalls, held an Eat So They Can event and most recently did a ‘Vietnamathon’ of 26 miles along the Tissington Triangle to raise funds to help the children. All of the money she raises goes directly to the children and orphanages.

Ally’s last event before returning will be the three-day Jubilee Yard Sale at Ivy House Farm, Flagg on June 3, 4 and 5 from 10am to 3pm.

There will be lots of bargains, homemade cakes and a tombola

Ally would love to see as many people as possible at this event and she would like to thank everyone for supporting her so far.

“The kindness I have received throughout my fundraising activities has been truly humbling and none of this would be possible without support of my family friends and everyone who gets involved.”
