Thomas Theyer's memory lives on with Buxton painting

Artist Rob Wilson has been working with Thomas’ family to create a new piece of art.

His creation, titled Buxton Carnival Road Race, features road race participants wearing yellow Thomas Theyer Foundation t-shirts as well as Thomas wearing his vest number 123.

Thomas’ mum Chris Theyer said: “Rob has done a wonderful job capturing Thomas’ passion.”

Thomas, who had dyspraxia and attention deficit disorder, loved to exercise. He was a member of Buxton Athletics Club Juniors and ran the carnival race just days before his death following a fall.

Rob has donated a large print to be raffled off in aid of the Thomas Theyer Foundation, which was set up by his family in his memory.

Rob is also releasing 123 smaller prints costing £95, with £70 going straight to the foundation.

Chris said: “Rob has been so generous, and I think this is a great opportunity to get a local artist’s work and do some good.”

Money raised by the foundation will go towards helping build a £250,000 lodge at White Hall near Buxton for children with special needs.

Chris added: “There will never be a time when we will be okay, we are all missing our special someone, but to know Thomas’ legacy will live on in people’s homes is really amazing.”
