Super Cubs celebrate highest possible achievement awards

Chinley Scouts have been celebrating the success of some of their younger members, after six Cubs made the grade to achieve the Chief Scout's Silver Award.

Ben Shone, Josh Bailey, Jack Timpson, Francis McKinna-Whitby, Louis Ecob and Oliver Skerry were presented with their certificates by disctric commissioner Debbie Rushworth at a recent meeting.

Group Scout leader Martin Berriman said: “This is the highest award cou can achieve while in Cubs, and it’s the greatest number we’ve ever had in one go.

“They’ve all worked really hard to achieve this award, regularly attending Cubs and taking an active and enthusiastic part in the life of the pack. Between them, they have amassed a total of 62 nights away from home.”

To qualify for the award, youngsters have to earn six activity or staged activity badges of their choosing—whether at group meetings or in their own time at home.

They must also finish the seven challenge awards, which test for abilities such as teamwork, leadership, outdoor and adventure skills, community service and global citizenship.
