A group of High Peak students are preparing for a 15-hour sponsored stop-out this weekend to raise money and awareness for two local charities.
The 11 students, who are all aged between 16 and 17, will be sleeping outside the United Reformed Church in Buxton from 6pm on Saturday as part of their National Citizenship Scheme project.
They will be using only the bare essentials and have collected a large number of cardboard boxes to use for the stop-out.
Their efforts will raise money and awareness of High Peak Nightstop and Buxton’s food bank.
As well as the stop-out, the students will be collecting food tins and loose change at Buxton supermarkets. The group has already raised over £400 and is hoping to collect as much as possible for the two causes.
