A Buxton woman who stole a bottle of wine from a shop has been given a conditional discharge.
Staff at the Co-op on Scarsdale Place saw Melanie Trueman go into the shop on December 10, High Peak Magistrates’ Court heard.
Trueman picked up a bottle of wine, valued at £7.49, from the shelf and placed it in a plastic bag before leaving without paying, prosecutor John Cooper said.
The 41-year-old, of Fairfield Road, admitted theft.
Annis Rowlands, defending, said police tracked Trueman down and recovered the bottle of wine.
She added: “Ms Trueman has dabbled with drugs in the past but is trying to remain drug-free.”
Trueman was given a 12-month conditional discharge. She must also pay £20 costs and a £15 surcharge.
