Speeders put Peak Dale kids at risk

Increased patrols and speed checks are to be carried out by police to target speeding motorist in Peak Dale.

The move comes after the issue was raised as a concern by local residents at Buxton Rural Safer Neighbourhood Team’s quarterly meeting.

Officers will be increasing patrols and carrying out speed checks on School Road, a 30 mph zone.

PCSO Pat Findlay-Wilson said: “Local residents have said that they are very concerned about the safety of children crossing the road at the primary school and play area.

“It can be especially dangerous at this area as there are many parked cars which the children have to cross between and I would encourage motorists to slow down and drive with care.”

Meetings are held every three months and aim to bring together the police, partner agencies and local residents to target community concerns.
