A scheme to improve the appearance of shop fronts in Whaley Bridge is progressing well, local councillors heard last week.
Whaley4Wards is running a trial scheme to help shop owners, tenants and landlords in the conservation area of the town access a small grant to improve the external appearance of their premises.
Three applications have so far been received for the scheme, Cllr John Goldfinch told members of Whaley Bridge Town Council at a meeting last week.
All of the applications are for businesses on Old Road, he said, and all have been given grants to help towards the work which is to be carried out. The successful applicants are Babka, Venus Accountants and a former hairdressers, which it is hoped can be brought back into use.
All the work which has been funded must be completed by the end of March, the meeting heard.
“We have now done the pilot and hope to continue this scheme next year,” Cllr Goldfinch said.
