Sex offender failed to reregister with police

A convicted sex offender has been fined for failing to meet the terms of the sex offenders register.

Russell Hayes, of Springdale, Buxton, admitted failing to comply with the requirements of the register between April 3 and 25 this year when he appeared in High Peak Magistrates’ Court.

The 43–year–old had been convicted in 2011 for making indecent photographs of children.

He was put on the sex offenders register for five years with the condition that he register at a local police station on an annual basis.

Hayes moved to Buxton in March last year and remembered to reregister then, however claimed he had not realised a year had passed when it came to doing it again this year.

He was given a fine of £400 and ordered to pay court costs of £85 and a victim surcharge of £40.
