Residents in Tideswell are being reminded to keep sheds and garages secure after burglaries were reported in the area.
Police were called about three outbuilding break-ins in the area overnight between Sunday, June 23 and Monday, June 24.
Sheds in gardens on Manchester Road, Sherwood Road and Wheston Bank were all broken into between 7pm and 9am but nothing was stolen.
Officers are urging residents to take the following steps to better protect their property:
Install security lighting around sheds and garages
Fit high-quality padlocks on all shed and garage doors
If your outbuilding has windows, consider reinforcing them with wood to deter thieves
If you store bikes or high-value lawn mowers in your outbuilding, install a fixed post inside that you can chain them to
Keep tools in a locked box
Fit a shed alarm
Mark your property with your postcode using a UV pen or SmartWater
Anyone with information about these crimes should call police on 101 or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
Residents wanting to discuss security measures, or any other issue, should contact the Hathersage Safer Neighbourhood Team on 101 or via the website www.derbyshire.police.uk.
