TWO High Peak schools are among six groups to have been given a cash boost by Derbyshire County Council for green projects.
A total of £1,520 has been awarded in the latest round of Derbyshire Greenwatch Action Grants scheme to deserving groups across the county. And St George’s Primary School in New Mills and Buxton Junior School are among those to benefit.
St George’s Church of England Primary School have been given £300, which will buy bundles of willow to make bird hides, butterfly posts and bird boxes and buy gardening tools to develop a woodland area into an outdoor classroom area.
And Buxton Junior School will use their £300 grant to buy a high quality, puncture resistant pond liner so that they can reclaim a disused pond and create a wildlife habitat and outdoor classroom area.
Organisations interested in applying for a grant can download an application form at the environment, green issues section of www.derbyshire.gov.uk or contact Call Derbyshire on 08456 058 058.
