A school trip took a turn for the worst when a teenager believed to be part of a school party from the Doncaster area sustained a head injury after falling over.

The Buxton and Edale Teams were called to an incident near to Hollins Cross on the Great Ridge, north of Castleton on the afternoon of Friday, May 13.

The teenager had fallen over, whilst walking the ridge path and sustained a head injury.

As team members were arriving, the Derbyshire Leicestershire and Rutland Air Ambulance landed on the ridge and the crew examined the casualty.

Her injury was found to be minor and the aircrew decided to fly the casualty down the hillside to Woodseats Farm where the mountain rescue teams and land ambulance were waiting.

She was treated by a paramedic and got onto the school minibus.

The teams send their thanks to the owners of Woodseats Farm for allowing us and the land ambulance to park there.
