A tiny Peak District school is getting a new look thanks to students from Buxton and Leek College.
Liam Bonsall, Destiny Tatton and Jonathon Clowes, who completed their practical training at the Skillsbase centre in Harpur Hill, heard about St Bartholomew’s School in Longnor’s dated decor from their bus driver Sam Garlick, and immediately volunteered to help.
Now they are keeping busy gloss painting all the school’s interior doors as well as painting the classroom walls, office and corridors. They aim to round off the project with a giant mural depicting a tree which pupils will add to using their handprints to depict the leaves.
Headteacher Anne Collins said: “This is a wonderful opportunity for the college and school to work collaboratively.”
