BUXTON’S Military Tattoo brought a spectacular array of colour, lights and music to the University of Derby Dome at the weekend.

Crowds were treated to performances by a variety of military bands as well as a moving rendition of Hero by the Rolls-Royce Ladies Choir, which was accompanied by images of soldiers deployed on operations abroad, and also involved 12 soldiers joining the choir.

The event raises money for the ABF The Soldiers’ Charity (formerly known as the Army Benevolent Fund).

Jayne Taylor, mum of Royal Marine Scott Taylor, who died in Afghanistan in 2010, said: “Scotty would have loved the Tattoo, watching the bands and the display teams. I am sure he was with us in spirit, as well as in our hearts.

“We were delighted that our son Liam, back from Afghanistan at the end of May, was able to be with us this year to watch the Tattoo.”
