A fatal car crash this afternoon has closed part of the A6 Buxton Road.
Emergency services were called to the accident in Hazel Grove at around 4pm.
The collision involved a Mini and a Volvo which had collided head-on.
A 43-year-old man sadly died at the scene. A 23-year-old man was taken to hospital where he is in a serious condition.
A man and a woman were also taken to hospital with serious but not life-threatening injuries.
Buxton Road is currently closed whilst police investigate.
PC Phil Turley from Greater Manchester Police’s Serious Collision Investigation Unit said: “This has been a tragic incident and our thoughts are with the family of the man who has sadly passed away.
“Our investigation is in the early stages however we are appealing for anyone who may have seen the incident or have any information to contact police so we can give all involved the answers they deserve.”
