The pond in Glossop’s Howard Park, situated alongside Dinting Road, has been leaking for some time and the works will include the reconstruction of the outlet manholes and pipe work, re-building the headwall and installing a new wall along the southern bank.

Repair work will start on Monday and is expected to take around six weeks.

The park and the swimming pool will remain open throughout but some areas may be restricted.

Councillor Tim Norton, executive member for corporate services at High Peak Borough Council, said: “These are essential works and I’m pleased that we are now ready to start on site.

“We have written to neighbouring residents to keep them informed and we’re working closely with the swimming pool, Friends of Howard Park and park users to minimise disruption but people should be aware that there will be increased vehicle movements on Dinting Road and around the pond area.”
