Ramblers’ joy at new bridge over quagmire

A much-loved public footpath is now accessible to ramblers again – after generous efforts created a brand-new footbridge to cross the quagmire that had taken over.

Thanks to a donation from a member of the Peak and Northern Footpaths Society, and the efforts of Derbyshire County Council, a new wooden footbridge has been built on the path near Windgather Rocks, Kettleshulme.

Cllr Joan Dixon, Derbyshire County Council’s cabinet member for Jobs, Economy and Transport, said: “We are pleased to work with a long established footpaths society to deliver a significant improvement to the footpath network in this popular walking area.

“I would like to thank particularly their member who funded the bridge and our staff who were involved with its design and construction earlier this year.”
